We were delighted this year to have sponsored an award at the Eagle Radio’s Local Heroes 2016 - the Volunteering Award. This very much part of our company ethos we see the true value on giving back to local communities through volunteering.

The whole experience was very inspiring as we were part of the judging panel so were privileged to hear the stories of so many amazing volunteers nominated for this award.

As is only fitting for all those nominated for a Local Hero Award there was a glitzy award ceremony at Guildford’s G-Live on 27th September where we were entertained by the incredible Mel C, along with the magical Military Wives Choir and Fuzz Universe!

Helen Martin took to the stage with Phil Burgess England Sevens rugby star to present Graham Foxwell with the Volunteer 2016 award. Grahams has dedicated his life to helping young people in Yateley, Frogmore and Darby Green to make positive life choices and realise their potential. He's been doing this for at least 30 years. Despite working full time Graham finds the time to run youth nights at Yateley Youth Suite, works with and recruit volunteers, promote the group on social media, run intervention events such as work on Halloween, run fundraising events and work strategically with the Vision 4 Youth trustees.

'Listening to all the winners' stories was a humbling experience and being joined by so many Olympians and outstanding sportsmen and women on the night made it a real celebration' said Helen Martin.

Congratulations to all the worthy winners and those nominated for the 2016 awards - you are all local heroes in our eyes and it was a privilege to help you celebrate!
